Please post your questions and suggestions to the linux.admin.news group. =========================== PLEASE READ THIS! ============================== How to add linux.* hierarchy to a news server. This document contains the most important things related to adding the linux.* news hierarchy to a news server or just configuring the server to carry it properly if linux.* groups are already there. It is intended mainly for news system administrators. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- . What is the linux.* hierarchy? It's composed mostly of newsgroups containing messages from a mailing list gateway. All these newsgroups are moderated to allow proper gating. These are not generic linux newsgroups, if you want to write about linux please move to the comp.os.linux.* hierarchy. Remember: these newsgroups are moderated. If you can directly post to them your server is misconfigured and nobody will see your articles (if this happens, please forward this FAQ to your news administrator). Due to historical reasons, currently some linux.* groups are not gated. I'm going to fix that someday, and will also develop a policy for creating new groups. If you have some input please post to linux.admin.news. If you know some high traffic linux-related mailing list you think should be gated, please write me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- . Who administers the linux.* hierarchy? Currenly Marco d'Itri is in charge of the administration of linux.*. In the past, the hierarchy has been administrated by H. Peter Anvin, Adam Richter and then Christoph Lameter. This FAQ can be downloaded from http://www.linux.it/~md/linux-faq . ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- .
